LOST CITIES AND SECRETS
As a guest of One Horizon, you will have an exclusive opportunity to explore up close, living excavation sites, usually unavailable to others. You will encounter the streets of once-thriving communities, the beating heart behind the pyramids, and ancient Egypt. The immense pyramids are only the tip of the Egyptian story. How could they have been constructed over 4,000 years ago… even before the invention of the wheel?  It has been estimated an army of 20,000 workers toiled for up to 20-30 years to create each pyramid. But who fed, clothed, and housed this massive workforce? It would have taken a city to support such an enormous endeavour yet there has been no sign of such an ancient metropolis.
Until now…

We Will Take You To The Lost City
Mark Lehner is one of the most renowned Egyptologists in the world. He had a theory that such a workers’ city must have existed near the Great Pyramids. Using painstaking archaeological diggings, Lehner and his team uncovered remnants of a great community, buried under 4,000 years of wind and sand. Workshops, kitchens, homes, and offices have been revealed, a city of thousands that supported the greatest civic projects in history just 400 meters from the mystical Sphinx.
More Fantastic Discoveries
Imagine a city of countless mummified dogs, jackals, baboons, and sacred cats slumbering through time in a landscape of temples, shrines, burial chambers, galleries, and hundreds of bronze statues. This is the Saqqara Necropolis, an animal cemetery and the most active excavation site in the world. Nearby, step into the Serapeum or temple of the Apis – Egypt’s sacred bulls. Their mummified remains surround us, each encased in an 80-ton granite sarcophagus. Honored as gods during their lives, their burial was a celebration of religious splendor. Come explore these astonishing animal cemeteries and witness the spectacle and wonder of the Egyptian afterlife.
