When in Kenya, why not celebrate your lifetime event with the Maasai? One Horizon can organize a special party with our Maasai friends in their traditional village, to celebrate a:
- memorial, or simply
- a get-together for a group of friends or family travelling in Kenya together.
And to give these a uniquely Kenyan flavour and be a guaranteed holiday highlight, the Maasai will make it a wonderfully joyous occasion. These proud semi-nomadic pastoral people have age-old traditional practices and rituals, and they honour milestones in their own culture and respect how important they are.
The Maasai will welcome you warmly and help you celebrate with the lively singing and dancing they are renowned for. Your party, or a friend’s surprise party, with the Maasai is something that few travellers ever get to experience, and it will certainly be something to talk about when you get home.Book Now Enquire Now Download PDF

Your Special Day with the Maasai
This One Horizon day tour is a magical opportunity to celebrate your important event by connecting with Kenya’s proud Maasai people in an authentic and interactive way by becoming part of the hustle and bustle of Maasai village life.
From Nairobi, we drive into the rural Maasai heartland in the Great Rift Valley where one of the elders will take you on a tour to explain how the Maasai have managed these precious lands for centuries. They are well-known for their distinctive dress, valued customs and unique social and family structures, and you'll take part in the rituals of the warriors and perform daily tasks with the women.
At the fun-filled party, the friendly Maasai women will dress you in traditional Maasai-style in a red shuka cloth or ‘African blanket’ and otherbrightly-coloured adornments. You will eat delicious Kenyan food, join in the infectious singing and dancing, which includes the extraordinary jumping dance or adumu as the morani, or warriors, demonstrate their prowess, and share much laughter and many ideas as you listen to their fascinating stories and folklore.
One of the many magical things that our guests love to do is learning to make their own highly-decorative Maasai beaded bracelet or other piece of jewellery. This is a wonderful memento of celebrating you birthday, anniversary, remembrance or other milestone event with your gracious Maasai hosts, and a personal reminder of your time in the village.
- Air conditioned transfers. We'll meet you at your Nairobi hotel at 9am and drop you back at about 5pm. Along the way we'll show you some amazing sights as we journey through suburban and rural communities that tourists rarely see.
- A light lunch.
- Unlimited fruit, tea, coffee and bottled water.
I was blessed with the opportunity to become immersed in the heart and soul of Kenya and its people.
One Horizon was spot on in providing me with a safe, comfortable environment that gave me the joy of experiencing the true Kenyan spirit. I experienced projects that included the Empowerment of Women, a Day with the Masai, Farming program for Grandmas, and a visit to one of the schools supported by One Horizon. All of my tours left me feeling FULL from the connection I had with my new Kenyan friends. One Horizon allowed me to be a part of a socio-culture experience that made me feel like I had a connection with both the people, culture and environment.
Learning about the traditions, struggles and joys of the Kenyan women and families has encouraged me to bring travelers to One Horizon and their tour opportunities several times in the past three years. I hope to continue sharing the connection and opportunity to support the lives of my Kenyan friends. I walk away from each experience knowing I have become a better person through my interactions provided by One Horizon.
Our most memorable tour in Kenya
We were eight travel agents on a Kenyan safari enjoying one of the most incredible and exciting experiences of our careers. Seeing animals in the wild is something we think everyone should experience once in their lifetime. But the highlight for all of us was meeting Colin Murray and his One Horizon project. We had booked an excursion for Nairobi called Farm to Feast. We were picked up by Colin, who took us to pick up piglets (paid for by the cost of our excursion) to be delivered to grandmothers who are raising their grandchildren in difficult conditions. We met the ladies, visited their community garden, and went to one of their homes and helped them prepare a traditional feast for us. The food was fabulous, we danced and sang and fell in love with the ladies. One Horizon Africa was easy to work with and provided for us with a most memorable day. We have all recommended One Horizon Africa to our clients who visit Nairobi.
It was amazing experience, never can imagine that Maasai life is like this.
Communication is friendly and professional at the same time, service was fully adjusted to the individual needs it was more than we expected. The safari tour is our life experience.
I continuously share information about this project among university students during my lectures in the field of business communication.
This is great example of the humanitarian project that includes local community needs. Students like the idea very much. We all can learn about patience, empathy and hard work from all of you. I wish you a lot of success!
